RUMISONKO, a DC based Latin American music ensemble has been present with their music to inspire our Human Rights Celebration on many occasions. Rumisonko means “heart of stone” in the language of the Quechua, a culture that spans the breadth of the Andes Mountains in South America. Their most recent release “Añoranzas” says: “This recording is the product of the longing for what was left behind in time and in the distance. It also reflects the joy and satisfaction of playing this music here and now. Its notes blend the energies of an ancient source and the loving dedication of generations of musicians.”
THIS EVENT IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Donations are appreciated to help support our work and the performers
Co-sponsored by Friends of Latin America and the Howard County Office of Human Rights
